Anthropologie’s island life

my guest post over at Freeworld Design Centre this week was tropical & full of island inspiration:

If the May catalogue from Anthropologie doesn’t inspire a looting of your piggy bank to sponsor a tropical island getaway, then nothing will. “It’s all blue skies, toes in the sand and shadows cast by palms.”

As we creep into winter with multiple layers of clothing and woollen socks, these gorgeous images in a juicy tropical palette of mango, coral, lemon & aqua conjure up blissful hammock-swinging, cocktail-sipping visions. I spotted simple basket weave clutches with a tie-dyed effect in this latest catalogue which would be an ideal accessory for the cheerful sundresses and pretty striped skirts. And the wooden trivets and coasters, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, bone and multi-coloured resin in geometrically tribal patterns are a striking home wear addition. How fun are the brush flicked bird houses with their brightly coloured assortment of shapes?

So now all we need is an Anthropologie on our island of South Africa... a dream which I hope will one day come true.
