Coastal Crush

I’m so happy to be back here! But last week we travelled up the West Coast of Cape Town and spent some time in the little coastal village of Jacobsbaai. We’ve passed through this way before, but never stayed there. Lana of the lovely Lanalou Style posted about this idyllic seaside hamlet recently and I knew it would be the perfect spot for some family R&R. So Google was searched, bookings were made and bags were packed…

rock pools perfect for a little fisherman…

a village well known for its good fishing would mean plenty of picturesque boats around…

my two boys got stuck in with their, up to now, seldom used fishing rods. A slow start didn’t dampen their spirits and once the first fish was hooked, the score board challenge had begun. Catch and release style of course…

plenty of warm, smooth rocks to sit on, thinking and day dreaming…

I loved these stripy knitted scarves keeping the indigenous fynbos warm in their traditional enamel cups at the local restaurant…

gorgeous lichen patterned rocks of cool grey and zingy orange, a perfect contrast to these bright turquoise shutters…

patience is a prerequisite for a fisherman; a virtue which my youngest persevered with, until someone else would hold the fishing rod for him…

even the resident seagulls were performing oceanic illusions… what more from a coastal getaway could we ask?

I can’t wait to go back!
