One of my fave Australian labels has just launched a new website and their gorgeous new range. Milk From A Thistle, the creation of Sydney designer Danielle Atkinson, caught my eye last year with a floaty bird print range for SS10, and then later with a striking signature horse print collection for AW11 which I completely fell in love with. Danielle’s textile design training is beautifully applied to her bold hand and digital prints on flowing pieces. Danielle finds inspiration from second hand stores with vintage prints and children’s books, while people, places and things help create her ideas. Superbly unique and delicately individual, Milk From A Thistle is inspired by the love of design rather than fashion trends. She is also influenced by designers such as Marni, Erdem, Karen Walker, Lover, Dries Van Noten, Dianne Von Furstenberg, Chloe and Marimekko.
Danielle is a girl after my own textile designer’s heart… this is a beautifully designed range with simple yet unique pieces drawing inspiration from the love of fabric and design.
